Another trip down to Durham

Elijah had another check-up today down at Duke. The neurosurgeon said he is doing very well. They removed about half the stitches from the incision on the back of his head. If things go well over the next couple weeks with that, the rest of the stitches can come out. My Dad is a physician, so Dr. Grant(the neurosurgeon) said in order to save us a trip we could have him remove the rest. Elijah's next check-up is scheduled for mid-April. He's scheduled to have a CT scan then as well. As long as the shunt continues to function properly, the plan for the rest of the year is another check-up and an MRI at 6 months, a check-up at one year and then yearly check-ups form then on out.

Elijah is growing well! Since his last check-up 5 days ago he grew almost an inch and gained 1.5 ounces. He is 22.25" long and weighs 10 pounds 2 ounces. It's hard to believe he will be 6 weeks old on Thursday!
