Day 47 and more about BYOB

For our family home evening treat tonight, I made doughnuts. They were delicious! We had some with apple pie filling inside, some with lemon pudding inside, some plain and some rolled in a little sugar. Today's picture is the plate of what was left after we had eaten a bunch. Next time I think I'm going to do chocolate glazed. I wanted to do that tonight, but ran out of time.

I mentioned a few weeks ago(briefly) something called Bake Your Own Bread(BYOB). Basically, I am trying to bake all of our baked goods at home from scratch. I've made whole wheat bread for a few years now, although not always exclusively. I would grab some bread at the store if we ran out at home and I didn't have time/energy to bake more. This year I am trying to plan better and stay motivated so that doesn't happen. I've also pretty much always made our birthday cakes, but I also want to make all of the other baked goods. Cookies, cupcakes, doughnuts, bagels, croissants, english muffins, hot dog and hamburger buns... I want to make it all!

I am really enjoying it so far and my family couldn't be more supportive. ;c) This is one project where they all want to see me succeed!

I love to bake too! You are my hero! I'm not sure I could keep up with the boys' appetites, but I've really trying to be more self-sufficient and trying out new recipes. Your donuts look delicious and I know some kids who would finish off a whole batch - maybe I should try those.

So, what is it that makes your pictures look so good? Is it the camera? Is it photoshop?

These are questions I would like to know. I think you have an artistic eye for photography too, but there is a professional quality about them that I am trying to figure out.

I want to make my photography look that way too, so what's your secret? Please help me. :)

Jen, you really need to update your pictures. My mouth is watering every time I see those donuts.

Thanks everyone!

Heidi- I thought I had commented, but maybe I only thought it. LOL My camera is a Canon Rebel XSi. I LOVE it. Love love love it. I tweak the photos jut a little in iPhoto right before I upload them, but it's mostly the camera.

Sorry to be short, but the baby is crying. :c(
