Catching up again and a Public Service

It's time to get caught up with all the p365 photos! It's so easy to get behind, then once I'm a little behind it starts to feel like a chore to get caught up again. Also, "It" finally happened. I missed a day. Day 50, to be exact. It was a shame to miss a day and such a nice, round number at that, but I'm glad it happened. It took the self-imposed pressure off to not miss a day. :c)

I'm also here to provide a public service. I've been told by a couple people that having to look at those donuts was doing them no favors, so in an effort to help out and not sabotage any more diets, I'm going to bump the donuts down the page a bit. Aren't I such a caring individual?

I now bring you the highlights from days 48-62 with the rest being in the photo gallery. I have more pictures to upload and need to add descriptions to the ones I've already uploaded, but I have a baby boy who is beginning to get a cold and isn't feeling well tonight, so I'd better go snuggle him.

Enjoy!

Day 47 and more about BYOB

For our family home evening treat tonight, I made doughnuts. They were delicious! We had some with apple pie filling inside, some with lemon pudding inside, some plain and some rolled in a little sugar. Today's picture is the plate of what was left after we had eaten a bunch. Next time I think I'm going to do chocolate glazed. I wanted to do that tonight, but ran out of time.

I mentioned a few weeks ago(briefly) something called Bake Your Own Bread(BYOB). Basically, I am trying to bake all of our baked goods at home from scratch. I've made whole wheat bread for a few years now, although not always exclusively. I would grab some bread at the store if we ran out at home and I didn't have time/energy to bake more. This year I am trying to plan better and stay motivated so that doesn't happen. I've also pretty much always made our birthday cakes, but I also want to make all of the other baked goods. Cookies, cupcakes, doughnuts, bagels, croissants, english muffins, hot dog and hamburger buns... I want to make it all!

I am really enjoying it so far and my family couldn't be more supportive. ;c) This is one project where they all want to see me succeed!

More P365: Days 44-46

Friday: A very happy anniversary

Saturday: Happy Valentine's Day - My beautiful, new trashcan. Haha!

The trashcan was necessary because a certain young crawler was pulling up on the old, open one and removing things from it!

Sunday: Yummy, homemade granola

P365 days 31-43

I have 13 days of catch-up photos to post. If I count the one I will take for today, that makes 14. Instead of making a huge post with all of those 13 photos, I'm going to post a couple favorites here and the rest can be seen in the P365 gallery of our SmugMug.

So, on with some of my favorites from the last two weeks!

New glasses!

The rest are here!

I'll post today's later on. It's our 12th Anniversary today, so there will be lots of photo opportunities. We're going to a movie and then dinner at a nice restaurant. Yay!!

30/365

Outside of my comfort zone. I have been told a bit often lately(and already knew) that I am not in many pictures. That is for two reasons. One is that I am always the one taking the pictures. The other is that I really, really hate pictures of myself. A lot. I want to try and be better about this, though, so today's picture is of me.

And you know what I noticed today?

I think I'm starting to get a little old. :cP

It's ok, though. I have loved the 30's even more than the 20's, so turning 36 will be just as welcome as the first 35 years.

29/365 - Happy Birthday, Kirk!

In keeping with last year's theme(and because I still haven't bought a "3" candle), Happy 85th, honey! You're looking FANTASTIC for your age!

28/365

It's kind of a green day...

Right after this picture was taken, the gray skies started dumping wet, rainy, frozen type stuff. Ick.

BTW, that soda? It tastes like a green apple lollipop. YUM! (And probably has as much sugar, if not more, eep!)

27/365

Today's post was going to be about the hotdog buns I made and BYOB 2009 (Bake Your Own Bread). They were yummy! It changed, however, when Elijah did something hysterical at dinner. The boy is serious about food. He ran out of food, so he got up to go find more. The problem? He was strapped into his booster seat at the time. That didn't stop him. He cruised down the table with the booster still attached to see what Spencer was eating.

Don't try to stand in between this boy and food. ;c)

Friday: A pic from my phone of the boys building a console table. You can see Elijah's red PJ'ed bum. He was supervising. ;c)

(Yes, Spencer was again wearing those leopard PJs. Ssssshhh! ;c) )

This hat is the same one Elijah wore as a wee baby.

Seen here:

Today's pic is brought to you by my sweet second-born daughter.

She did nice things for each of her siblings and left a sweet note on their pillows. She even made the envelopes sealed with little hearts.

That's not all of the sweetness in our home tonight. As I was putting the other kids to bed, Katelee cleaned the kitchen, swept and did the dishes -- all without being asked.

I have pretty awesome kids. :c)

21 & 22/365

Last night at around 9:30 I realized I hadn't taken a picture for the day. I was going to just count it as my first missed day, but Kirk said there was still time. :c) We were watching the news and there was a story about the excitement that happened at Tech as Kirk was leaving a business dinner near campus. So, my photo for yesterday was of something that doesn't happen very often in our small neck of the woods.

Today's picture is brought to you by Spencer. He declared today was his Pajama Day. (He's wearing an old sleeper of his sisters'. He says he is a tiger.) Here he is on his Pajama Day, playing on Starfall.com.

"I did a great job, Mommy!"

This Project 365 is taking so much time that it's hard to add any other content. Perhaps eventually I will. :c)

Catching Up: 16, 17 & 18/365

Here are the pictures for the last few days.

Friday: No school + groceries needed = shopping with all 5 kids

Saturday:

Sunday: We have a couple Bourkes Parrots named Sunny and Cher. Yes. That's right. :c) I tried to get a picture of both of them together, but Sunny is too curious and a bit of a camera hog. Cher is a bit more reserved.

I know some people are colder, but, still... I'm cold. With the windchill it is -4 outside.

I love how Elijah seems to be pretending he doesn't know Spencer. Hahaha!!

13/365

Elijah played for a little while before he fell asleep for his afternoon nap. He fell asleep at the opposite end of his bed, entwined with a monkey, bum up in the air. When I peeked in on him, he was snoring.

He's such a cutie!

12/365 & Happy Birthday, Grace!

My sweet, second-born daughter turned 8 years old today! She wanted just one thing for her birthday, a Nintendo DS. She opened it before going to school today, we charged it while she was gone and it was what she went for as soon as she got home. Lucky for her she didn't have any homework. :cD

She played for a while and then we asked her what she wanted to have for dinner. The birthday girl(or boy) gets to pick dinner on their birthday. It was decided to go out for dinner. She picked Shaker's and we drove there only to find it had closed! :c( We were so sad. We loved Shaker's. A change of plans took us to Applebee's.

More playing on the DS while we waited for the food. ;c)

We came home and had family home evening. We talked some more about baptism, since that will be happening for Grace on Saturday! :cD

Happy birthday was sung and the candles over the yummy ice cream cake were blown out. (I'm amazed that this picture was taken in the dark with all the lights out!)

And a few more minutes of play before bedtime. She got the National Geographic Panda game and is loving it. (I picked this one as my p365 picture.)

10 & 11/365

I guess a good way to jinx myself is to point out that I was doing well! I mention it and then don't post the next day's photo. :cD Elijah and I have been a bit under the weather the last few days and I was feeling especially bad yesterday. At least I have a photo. I am sure a day will come soon when I don't even take one. I started off the project knowing I would need to give myself a little slack, though, so I'm going to keep on going even when I do start to miss. As long as I don't get weeks behind in posting pictures, like I did last year, then I will be happy.

Yesterday's photo is of my camera's new home. I got the bag earlier in the week.

The picture was taken with my older camera, so that my new one could be in the photo.

And today's photo is a lesson/reminder to me that I really shouldn't wait until after dark to take the photo of the day. The yarn in the photo really is a gorgeous mix of red, burgundy, orange and pink. The picture does not do it justice. I wanted to show what I'm trying out - knitting two pairs of socks at once on one circular needle. It's LOTS of fun! I can see how people get addicted to sock knitting. :c)

9/365

I am sure I will eventually get to a point where I put multiple daily photos into one post, instead of posting one each day, but for now I'm still hanging in there!

Today I made such a yummy breakfast. If you have never made a homemade bagel, I cannot encourage you enough to try. It is so extremely easy and very, very delicious. My bagel this morning had cinnamon sugar on the outside and reminded me a bit of the Panera Bread cinnamon crunch bagels.
